  • Trecho: "the 1st Battalion, 6th Infantry (BEF), with elements of the Reconnaissance Company, 894th Tank Destroyer Battalion, had taken Zocca early on the 21st after a stiff fire fight and then continued to advance the next 2 days against only slight opposition. By the end of the 23d Marano village and the Vignola road center to the east had been taken. Those points marked the entrance of the BEF into the Po plain.
